We are looking for an accounting professional to meet the outsourced bookkeeping, accounting and financial reporting needs of our clients. This position prepares monthly financial reports for our bookkeeping clients using GAAP accounting method with occasional deviation from GAAP as requested for custom internal reports, as well as participating in planning and analysis including annual budgets and forecasting. The position is responsible for creating a positive experience for each client and will act as a project manager with other NPCM staff on a regular basis to ensure quality and consistency in the services provided.
This job is a standard 40-hour work-week. There is no tax season and regular overtime is not expected.
Non Profit Capital Management, LLC (NPCM) provides outsourced bookkeeping support to non-profit companies located across the U.S.. Our staff works remotely and fill all of the bookkeeping and accounting needs of our clients that would traditionally have been done in their office.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures that all the bookkeeping needs of our clients are met. Mostly this position will handle the month-end closing process for each client, with the day-to-day transactions (A/P & Payroll) handled by other NPCM staff or the client themselves. It is possible this position will need to assist with daily transactions from time-to-time.
- Prepares monthly financial reports for bookkeeping clients, including any custom reporting they have requested. Must be comfortable preparing GAAP basis reports, complete with balance sheet, income statement, and indirect cash flow statement.
- Provides thorough analysis of financial reports and guidance to other team members and clients to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting practices.
- Serves as “expert” with regard to revenue recognition and accounting for new programs, expense accruals/cutoff management, and overall understanding of general accounting principles.
- Provides leadership and support to the overall financial review process including designing presentations and reports, variance analysis, forecasting future results.
- Analyzes clients’ financial status, designs and develops timely financial plan and procedures based on analysis of data; discusses financial options with client senior teams including Treasurer, Managers, and Executive Director.
- Assist with client requested projects and other ad hoc requests.
- Assists the client and the NPCM team preparing for each annual audit.

Essential Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting; Masters degree or CPA is preferred but not required
- Experience in public accounting a big plus
- Multiple years of experience in a role providing financial reporting for non-profits, associations, or similar organizations
- Xero and QuickBooks Online are our primary accounting platforms. Experience using Xero and/or QuickBooks Online is preferred.
- Must have extensive non-profit accounting experience.
- Strong command of general accounting principles and ability to create, maintain and analyze P&L (accrual and cash basis), Balance Sheet, Cash flow, etc.
- Strong communication skills; capable of presenting complex financial information in an easy-to-understand format to non-financial executives
- Advanced proficiency with Excel.
- Must organize/prioritize work, manage multiple clients, tasks and projects and function effectively as a small-team member
- Must be able to attend occasional evening or early morning board meetings. Clients are typically flexible to work with the NPCM team member around their schedule.
